The Six Hundred is an art journal based in Toronto that aims to promote the discussion of all things creative. We proudly present work by students and emerging artists, and encourage creatives working across disciplines and institutions to converse on a range of topics. Submission is open on a rolling basis, and remains free and available to all. T6 funds a yearly exhibition of student work that coincides with a journal launch, and this year will be presenting an exhibition at 29 McCaul Street from 8-14 February 2019.

Sappho, spelled (in the dialect spoken by the poet) Psappho, (born c. 610, Lesbos, Greece — died c. 570 BCE). A lyric poet greatly admired in all ages for the beauty of her writing style.

Her language contains elements from Aeolic vernacular and poetic tradition, with traces of epic vocabulary familiar to readers of Homer. She has the ability to judge critically her own ecstasies and grief, and her emotions lose nothing of their force by being recollected in tranquillity.
